Verra is establishing a panel of biodiversity experts to evaluate projects using the Nature Framework, v1.0, an asset methodology under Verra’s Sustainable Development Verified Impact Standard (SD VISta) Program. The SD VISta Nature Framework Technical Expert Panel will serve as a key resource to support the high-integrity review of Nature Framework projects. Experts with specialized ecosystem knowledge are invited to apply by February 28, 2025.

Launched in October 2024, the Nature Framework enables projects to quantify biodiversity outcomes and generate Nature Credits. It incentivizes widespread investment in measurable conservation and restoration activities benefiting both nature and people.

The Technical Expert Panel will consist of ecologists, biologists, and other conservation-focused environmental experts who will conduct technical evaluations of project designs. Project proponents starting to develop a project under the Nature Framework must submit a project description document describing all elements of the project’s design and demonstrating compliance with the Nature Framework and SD VISta requirements. The panel’s review of key technical elements of project designs is an integral step prior to the project validation process.

The panel’s work will contribute to the following objectives:

  • Upholding ecosystem-appropriate design in Nature Framework projects
  • Promoting confidence and integrity in biodiversity outcomes generated by Nature Framework projects
  • Supporting the Nature Framework’s operationalization and ongoing development

Please review the Terms of Reference (PDF) for more information about the panel’s objectives, the desired qualifications of its members, and expected commitments. Panel members will be compensated.

Please apply by February 28, 2025, using the Nature Framework Technical Expert Panel Application Form (external).
