Verra’s rice methodology in the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Program, VM0051 Improved Management in Rice Production Systems, v1.0, is now available in digital form on the Verra Project Hub (external) and can be accessed through the Digital Project Submission Tool.

As part of Verra’s multiyear digitalization initiative, this release is a key component of enhancing the registration process for projects using VM0051. The digital process will streamline projects’ abilities to generate carbon credits and drive finance to activities that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve resource use efficiency, and support socio-environmental co-benefits.

Verra encourages proponents to use the digital versions of methodologies as they become available. With the addition of VM0051, Verra now has 22 digitalized methodologies across its programs. Verra maintains a list of digitalized VCS methodologies, and a new resource with a list of all digitalized methodologies across Verra’s programs is forthcoming.

Additional digitalized methodologies are currently undergoing User Acceptance Testing, including ACM0009: Consolidated baseline and monitoring methodology for fuel switching from coal or petroleum fuel to natural gas, v3.2 (external) and VM0049 Carbon Capture and Storage, v1.0.

All digitalized methodologies and tools are available on the Verra Project Hub. Please email hubsupport@verra.org to request access to the platform.
