Verra published an updated Verra Program Fee Schedule (PDF) in October 2024 that lays out the fee structures and details for all its standards programs. Changes to the Plastic Program fees are included in Sections 2.2.2, 2.3, and 2.5.
The fee changes are summarized below and will go into effect January 1, 2025.
Changes to Existing Fees
- The account opening fee and annual account maintenance fee will be $750.
Note: The annual account maintenance fee will now be charged annually on the anniversary date of account approval.
- Verra will now charge a flat fee for project registration. The fee will not be applied as an account credit towards future issuance levies.
- The registration fee will be based on the number of methodologies applied by the project:
- One methodology – $2,000 per request
- More than one methodology – $3,000 per request
Note: Previously, the registration fee was calculated based on estimated annual collection/recycling amounts (capped at $7,500). For many of our stakeholders, this change will result in lower upfront registration costs.
- Projects will now pay a flat fee of $7 for each Plastic Credit issued.
Note: Verra is transitioning away from a tiered issuance levy. This simplified fee structure will make it significantly easier for project proponents to estimate their issuance costs.
New Fees
- Verra will now charge a fee for each pipeline listing ($1,000) and verification request ($1,250), to be paid before Verra begins the associated completeness checks.
Note: Verra is making this change to implement a more consistent approach to all program fees and to better align fees with when Verra provides services.
- A $0.50/Plastic Credit fee will be charged for Plastic Credit retirement and cancellation. These fees will be billed on a monthly basis to the account holder that initiates the credit retirement or cancellation.
Note: If a project request is denied, projects will have to pay the respective review fees (e.g., pipeline listing, registration or verification) upon resubmission of the request.
