We would like to let you know about a few VCS Program updates we are releasing today. The revisions to the VCS program documents are mainly clarifications in response to folks asking for guidance on VCS rules. There is also an important change to the methodology approval process.

The main updates include:

  • Introduction of a new step in the methodology approval process whereby developers submit a concept note at the start of the process. This will help VCS provide early support and guidance in the process. The concept note will also help VCS prioritize high-impact methodologies, in terms of their innovative or streamlined approach, the sectors or regions they target, and/or their potential for GHG mitigation.
  • Clarification for grouped projects to allow project activity instances to leave the project. This will particularly help AFOLU projects that have many land owners.
  • Additional guidance for Joint Implementation projects seeking registration with the VCS Program.

See the updates catalogue for a complete list and description of all updates.

Revisions to individual program documents can be found in the history at the end of each document. See the overview of updates since the release of Version 3.
