Verra is thrilled that our landmark Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Program now includes some of the first carbon credits in the world to earn the high-integrity Core Carbon Principles (CCP) label. The CCPs are a critical catalyst for bringing confidence to the voluntary carbon market, and we are proud to be part of this effort.

Following the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM)’s program-level eligibility determination of the VCS Program last month, today marks another critical milestone on our collective journey to ensure high carbon credit quality. We are gratified that the work continues on other methodologies, such as REDD+ and clean cookstoves, and is due to be completed in the coming months.

From its inception almost 20 years ago, Verra has pioneered market solutions to drive finance into climate action. The ICVCM’s work to establish a common understanding of carbon credit integrity is crucial to realizing it on the ground—both in established crediting programs, like ours, and in those of newer market entrants. We must all stand for rigor, transparency, and vigilance for science-backed and consensus-driven standards. Verra will continue to pursue our commitment to positively impacting lives, communities, and the planet.
