The proposed new module applies to projects that implement activities to reduce or prevent planned deforestation (APDef), and will be designed to work along with VM0048 Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation.
Summary of development
Verra is leading the development process for this module and has released an RFP (PDF) to hire a consultant (see Section 2.1.1(2) of the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process, v4.3 [PDF]). The module is currently at “Step 2: Methodology Concept Note Development” of the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process, 4.3 (PDF).
