Methodology for Tropical Peatland Conservation and Restoration, v1.0

The proposed methodology applies to project activities that conserve and restore tropical peatlands. The methodology is applicable to tropical peatland systems across the globe. Once completed, the proposed methodology will replace the peat modules currently included under VM0007, REDD+ Methodology Framework (REDD+ MF).

Verra is leading the development process for this methodology and has hired a consortium with members from Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology, Djuanda University, and the University of Lampung as the developer, collectively referred to as TroPeat (see Section 2.1.1(2) of the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process, v4.3 (PDF)). The draft methodology is currently at “Step 2: Methodology Concept Note Development” of the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process, 4.3 (PDF).
