VM0041 v2.0 (PDF) provides procedures to estimate enteric methane emission reductions generated from the inhibition of methanogenesis through the introduction of a feed ingredient into ruminants’ diets.

This proposed module aims to revise VM0041 to introduce a module for project activities that reduce N2O emissions from excreta disposal by replacing conventional feed with amino acid-balanced low-protein feed for cattle.

Summary of Development

  • The methodology was proposed by Ajinomoto Co., Inc. under an older version of the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process (MDRP) (PDF).
  • In March 2023, the development of this methodology was put on hold, pending further developments with another ongoing revision to VM0041, M0199.
  • In March 2026, Verra reassessed the priority of methodologies under development and decided to keep this proposal on hold.
  • Verra will reassess whether to resume the development of this methodology in Q1 2027
