Methodology for Less Carbon Raw Material Conversion in Concrete Production

The proposed methodology applies to project activities that reduce or eliminate the use of cement by introducing industrial by-products and stimulants as raw materials in carbon-reducing concrete production. By eliminating the use of cement in concrete manufacturing, which uses limestone in the energy-intensive calcination process, a reduction in GHG emissions is achieved. The proposed methodology is globally applicable.

The methodology idea note was submitted by Samsung C&T (opens on external site) and is ccurrently at “Step 1: Methodology Idea Note Submission” of the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process, v4.3 (PDF). This methodology idea note is similar to another proposed methodology, M0200 Methodology for the Production of Low-Carbon Cement and Concrete.
