Methodology for Implementing Dry-Cultivated Water-Saving and Drought-Resistance Rice Farming Practices

The proposed methodology applies to project activities that substitute traditional paddy rice farming practices with dry-cultivated water-saving and drought-resistance rice (D-WDR) cultivation. D-WDR can grow under rain-fed or dry cultivation systems with minimal standing water, maintaining soil aerobic conditions while reducing methane emissions. The proposed methodology is globally applicable.

The methodology idea note was rejected by Verra, as per Section 3.1.6(3) of the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process, 4.2 (PDF). The proposal overlaps Verra’s initiative to develop a new methodology or module under VM0042 Methodology for Improved Agricultural Land Management, v2.0.
