The proposed methodology applies to project activities that reduce GHG emissions from aircraft. By developing new airports that are closer to a destination, a reduction in GHG emissions is achieved as reserve fuel requirements and fuel consumption are reduced. The methodology is globally applicable.
SUMMARY OF DEVELOPMENT
The methodology idea note was rejected by Verra, as per Section 3.1.7(3) of the Methodology Development and Review Process, 4.3 (PDF). The decision was based on the proposal’s low climate change mitigation potential compared to other proposals and potential unmitigable risks associated with demonstrating additionality and the baseline approach.
