Methodology for Avoided Forest Conversion from Decreased Wildfire

The proposed methodology applies to project activities implementing fuel reduction treatments in fire-adapted forests to mitigate high-severity fire risks. The methodology proposes a standard method for setting the baseline and testing additionality.

The proposed methodology is being developed by Verra in collaboration with the National Forest Foundation and Vibrant Planet, and is currently at “Step 3: Draft Methodology Development” of the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process, 4.3 (PDF).
