Verra has published Clarifications to VM0042 Methodology for Improved Agricultural Land Management, v1.0 to expand on two important aspects:

  1. Any project using VM0042 must monitor the soil organic carbon pool, instead of deeming it de minimis, even if changes to this pool account for less than five percent of the total net greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions and removals resulting from project activities.
  2. Independent modeling experts (IMEs) must meet the minimum qualifications laid out in the clarifications document and must be hired by the VVB. IMEs provide independent third-party oversight of the modeling procedures that project proponents use when applying VM0042’s Quantification Approach 1 (Measure and Model) and module VMD0053 (Model Calibration, Validation, and Uncertainty Guidance for the Methodology for Improved Agricultural Land Management).

Please contact Christopher Ajemian, Program Officer, Agriculture Innovation (cajemian@verra.org) if you have any questions regarding the clarifications document.
