7 June 2011 – The Verified Carbon Standard Association (VCSA) established the VCS Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU) Steering Committee in 2009 to support the continued development of the VCS Program on AFOLU.

The VCSA is now expanding the AFOLU Steering Committee to include members with technical expertise in the new project types that have been added to the VCS or are under consideration (such as Peat Rewetting and Conservation), as well as to increase the geographic diversity of the Steering Committee.

The AFOLU Steering Committee provides support and input to the VCS on AFOLU related issues to support the effective use of the standard; to broaden the scope of the standard, including the development of new guidance and tools; and provides input on the strategic goals of the program. Members are invited to serve for a term of 3 years.

An open call is being used to identify new members for the Steering Committee. The terms of reference and the application procedure are available on the VCS website. Applications are invited by 7 July 2011 and should be sent to secretariat@v-c-s.org.
