Today, VCS released the first requirements for crediting restoration and conservation activities across wetland ecosystems.

The new VCS Wetlands Restoration and Conservation (WRC) project category covers a range of wetlands areas, including mangroves, freshwater tidal coastal wetlands, salt marshes, sea grasses, floodplains, peatlands and potentially other areas.

WRC requirements are found within the AFOLU Requirements. See the WRC requirements (PDF).

Release of the WRC requirements coincides with several updates to VCS program documents. See the 3Q12 updates catalogue for a complete list and description of all updates.

A webinar describing the WRC requirements and other program updates will be held on 25 October at 11:00 a.m. (U.S. Eastern Time).

Individuals with experience in the dynamics of wetland ecosystems, together with other relevant AFOLU experience, are invited to submit applications to assess proposed WRC methodologies. Learn more about methodology experts.

The WRC requirements were developed with input from a working group of technical experts. See the Wetlands Technical Working Group members.

The requirements were subjected to peer review and public consultation.  Watch the public consultation webinar (opens on vimeo.com).
