As part of Verra’s efforts to develop and manage standards for a sustainable future, we create advisory groups to provide input into the development of rules and requirements for each of our new standards. Given the evolution of the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) rules, including the Version 4 updates, we will establish a VCS Program Advisory Group as well, and are currently seeking interested parties. In the past, updates to the VCS Program rules have come through a variety of avenues, including the VCS AFOLU Steering Committee. As we move to implement a more streamlined approach to gather strategic input from a broad range of stakeholders to ensure the VCS Program continues to drive practical and robust solutions to mitigate climate change, members of the VCS Program Advisory Group will help ensure that the VCS Program continues to serve its users in an effective and efficient manner.

More specifically, the group will provide strategic guidance on the evolution of the VCS Program, including updates to the content of the VCS rules, and will provide insights into the needs of a range of users of the VCS Program. The group will also advise on existing and prospective market opportunities, such as those under CORSIA, Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, and various domestic markets (e.g., Colombia, South Africa).

The VCS Program Advisory Group will convene (via teleconference) approximately four times per year, with in-person meetings potentially being scheduled during conferences where group members are likely to attend. Applications for group membership will be open until 7 December 2018.
