The Verified Carbon Standard Program Surpasses Half a Billion Issued Verified Carbon Units

We are excited to announce that the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Program has issued more than half a billion Verified Carbon Units (VCUs) since 2005. This is the equivalent of 130 coal plants shuttered for one year.

This milestone is a sign of the private sector’s initiative to tackle climate change over the past 15 years, and we are particularly heartened to pass this milestone in what has otherwise been a challenging year. Despite the pandemic and economic uncertainty, companies and consumers are still stepping up and working hard to address the climate crisis.

We would like to extend our gratitude to all those who have worked together with us to achieve this milestone, and we look forward to continuing to support projects that work hard to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
