Sharad Agarwal
Program Officer, Plastic Program
As a Program Officer, Sharad supports the evolution and continuous improvement of Verra’s Plastic Program by contributing to revisions of procedures, standards, and methodologies. In his role, Sharad reviews listing, registration, and verification approval requests for projects. He serves as a subject matter expert on the Plastic Program, responds to enquiries, and provides technical guidance to stakeholders, including project proponents and VVBs.
Starting his journey in the sustainability sector during his graduation days by independently developing a project on composite railroad ties, Sharad has 5+ years of experience in the sector. Prior to joining Verra, Sharad undertook the development of a blockchain-based waste traceability system and listing of environmental commodities projects for the Gemini Corporation N.V. group. Before that, Sharad worked for a mining company where he oversaw socio-environmental compliances.
Sharad holds a diploma in business management from Goa Institute of Management, India, and a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Having certifications in blockchain and NFTs, Sharad also has experience in integrating sustainability and social activities with Web 3.0. He currently lives in Mumbai, India, and enjoys reading, traveling, and music in his leisure time.
