As Regional Representative, US and Canada, in Verra’s Legal, Policy, and Markets Department, Michael engages with key stakeholders from the public and private sectors in the region to secure endorsement of markets and the use of Verra’s standards to achieve their climate and sustainability goals.

Prior to working at Verra, Michael was the Manager, Sustainability, Policy, and Communications for a climate-smart agricultural company, based in the US. While there, he worked on their carbon crediting program, leading thought leadership for, and stakeholder engagement on, carbon policy, standards, and Scope-3 initiatives.

Michael has also worked for a US-based nonprofit organization where he developed model legislation and message framing on various issues that were implemented at the subnational level. He was also responsible for engagements with elected officials and NGO actors.

Michael holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from George Washington University, as well as a Master’s of Public Policy and a Master’s of Science in Natural Resources and the Environment, both from the University of Michigan.

In his free time, Michael enjoys woodworking, hiking, going to concerts, and spending time with his yellow Labrador retriever.
