As a Program Officer, Max engages with stakeholders and supports the users of Verra programs and standards.

Before joining Verra, Max managed a forest ecology research lab focused on forest-climate interactions and carbon cycling. While overseeing day-to-day activities and data management, Max led and co-authored several publications in scientific journals. Prior, Max wore a variety of hats as a field ecologist, outdoor educator, and crew leader for the conservation corps. He also volunteered on sustainable agriculture projects in Colombia and Peru.

Max earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science with a minor in Outdoor Pursuits from Ithaca College. During his undergraduate studies, he spent four months in northern India where he earned a certificate from the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). Max also holds a Master of Science in Biology from Virginia Commonwealth University where his master’s thesis focused on aboveground carbon cycling response to forest disturbance.
