Lina Vanesa Espitia

In her role as Senior Program Officer, Natural Climate Solutions, Lina Vanesa helps to ensure the quality and integrity of NCS projects seeking registration and VCU issuance under the VCS Program. She reviews project documents to assess VVB performance and project outcomes. She also responds to stakeholder queries and serves as a subject matter expert within the Program Management Department’s Natural Climate Solutions team.

Lina Vanesa has over 15 years of professional experience. Before joining Verra, Lina Vanesa worked for six years at South Pole as a project manager for AFOLU projects, supporting them from feasibility assessment to credit issuance under Verra’s VCS and CCB Programs and under Gold Standard. In her last year at South Pole, she was responsible for reviewing new project opportunities and overseeing the Latin American region’s development of the Afforestation and Reforestation projects.

Before joining South Pole, Lina Vanesa worked for the timber industry, managing forest plantations and dealing with contractors for planting, weeding, conducting forest inventories, and timber harvesting for an FSC-certified pine timber company in the Andean region of Colombia.

Lina Vanesa holds a bachelor’s degree in forestry engineering from the National University of Colombia and currently lives in Medellin, Colombia.
