Kurt Willson
Program Officer, Sustainable Development
As Program Officer, Sustainable Development, at Verra, Kurt helps ensure the quality of projects registering with Verra programs and provides technical guidance to program users. He supports the development of Verra’s SD VISta Program, helping stakeholders achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Prior to work with Verra, Kurt was a part of Eden Reforestation Projects, a non-profit that employs people across the world to plant trees in deforested areas. There, he assisted monitoring teams on the ground to ensure accurate data was collected, environmental challenges were overcome, and the field teams questions were answered. Further, Kurt utilized GIS tools to make maps of areas where activities took place.
Kurt holds Bachelor’s degrees in Environmental Science and GIS from the University of Maryland. While at the University of Maryland, Kurt was a key member of the sustainability community culminating in his post as the Student Director of Sustainability. Outside of work, Kurt loves to play disc golf, board games, and singing.
