Senior Program Officer, Natural Climate Solutions
As a Senior Program Officer, Natural Climate Solutions, Farai reviews registration and verification requests for natural climate solutions (NCS) projects, with a focus on agricultural land management projects. He also collaborates with the Auditing and Accreditation Team on assessing VVB Performance and serves as a subject matter expert on NCS projects, employing his valuable experience in soil carbon dynamics, soil sampling, and data analysis.
Before joining Verra, Farai worked at Rewild Capital, where he developed projects focusing mainly on soil carbon centric projects in working rangelands and grasslands. As Carbon Science Lead, he reviewed standards and methodologies, developed soil sampling protocols, and performed data analyses, including and GIS and remote sensing analyses, for use in potential and running projects. He also worked on researching and applying peer-reviewed soil carbon models for determining ex-ante carbon removals and emissions.
Farai holds an Master of Science degree in Biological Science focused on soil carbon sequestration and soil greenhouse gas emissions and a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Forest Resources and Wildlife Management. He is currently based in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, where he spends his free time with family or by reading and taking walks while bird watching.
