Cai May is a Program Officer at Verra. As part of Verra’s Program Team, she provides technical guidance to program users and contributes to the evolution of Verra programs in helping stakeholders achieve sustainable development and climate goals.
Prior to joining Verra, Cai May completed her Masters of Environmental Management at Duke University, where she concentrated in environmental economics and policy. At Duke, she taught a course on international climate negotiations, attended COP24 and 25 as a member of the Malaysian Youth Delegation, and worked with a private company to quantify climate risks in the global timber market. Cai May also worked with the International Institute for Sustainable Development as a summer consultant to develop a materials management module for their sustainable asset valuation tool. She recently interned at Don’t Waste Durham and conducted a financial feasibility study for a reusable packaging service in the City of Durham. Cai May also holds a Bachelors of Arts in Environment Studies from Soka University of America.
Cai May is originally from Malaysia. In her free time, she likes cooking, and particularly enjoys making the Malaysian dishes that she misses. She also loves reading, being outdoors, and exploring new places.
