As a Program Officer at Verra, Bathandwa helps ensure the quality of projects registering with Verra programs and provides technical guidance to program users.

Prior to joining Verra, he worked in Carbon Management and Energy Efficiency advisory at Delta Carbon, a green consultancy services firm that offers sustainability solutions to both the private and public sectors in South Africa. Bathandwa contributed to various greenhouse gas emissions studies, M&V audits for energy savings, and energy performance certificates for buildings. He was actively involved in various stakeholder interactions and was also instrumental in sourcing new projects. In addition to this, he was involved in various other climate change and mitigation assignments which included feasibility assessments, methodology development, etc.

Bathandwa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography and Anthropology from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, and a PDM in Energy Leadership from Wits Business School in Johannesburg, South Africa.

In his free time, Bathandwa likes to binge-watch series, watch sports, listen to music, travel, hike, and spend time with family. He used to play cricket semi-professionally but now he only plays when he has time.
