VCS has hired the former head of Bunge Environmental Markets in Brazil, Sandro Marostica, to lead its new office in the South American country.

VCS said Marostica will assist Brazilian project proponents and also local governments working to develop state-wide legal frameworks for REDD (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation).

David Antonioli, VCS chief executive, said the Brazilian office opening, along with the work under way in their Chilean office, will give the VCS easier access to several forest carbon initiatives in Latin America.
