THE Tasmanian Land Conservancy today announced that it would be included in Virgin Australia’s carbon offset program. Virgin Australia passengers have the option of paying an extra fee to help neutralize the emissions of their flights by directly supporting the Conservancy.

“[The Conservancy performs] important work in protecting irreplaceable sites, endangered species’ habitats, and rare ecosystems across Tasmania,” said Virgin’s Geraldine Chin Moody.

Carbon offsets generated by the Tasmanian Land Conservancy’s projects are covered by the Verified Carbon Standard.

The Conservancy is a science-based, not-for-profit environmental organization that manages over 30,000 hectares of land annually for nature conservation.

It provides a safe haven for rare and threatened species.
