When a waste recycling company in Accra, Ghana happened upon a bunch of unopened canisters of refrigerant containing CFC-12, an extremely potent greenhouse gas, they not only figured out a way for how to safely dispose of them, they also managed to sell carbon credits generated from the avoided emissions of this greenhouse gas on the voluntary carbon market.
