Verra has inactivated this methodology in accordance with Section 5 of the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process v4.4 (PDF). See the announcement for more details.
This methodology is a revision of the CDM ACM0008: Consolidated methodology for coal bed methane, coal mine methane and ventilation air methane capture and use for power (electrical or motive) and heat and/or destruction through flaring of flameless oxidation, v5.0 to include open cast mining operations.
VMR0001, v1.0 quantifies the emissions reductions generated by pre-draining methane from an active open cast mining operation. Pre-drainage prevents methane from being emitted into the atmosphere during mining and provides GHG emissions reductions. The methodology quantifies GHG emission reductions by providing an approach to determine the quantity of methane that would be released without the project.
The current version of ACM0008 includes open cast mining. Therefore, VMR0001, v1.0 became redundant.
