14. Agriculture, forestry, and other land use (AFOLU)
This methodology outlines procedures to quantify net greenhouse gas emission reductions and removals resulting from project activities implemented to restore tidal wetlands. Such activities include creating and/or managing the conditions required for healthy, sustainable wetland ecosystems.
Projects applying this methodology are expected to generate greenhouse gas emission reductions and removals primarily by increasing both biomass and autochthonous soil organic carbon. Projects applying this methodology may be developed anywhere in the world.

Please note: Projects that have requested listing on the Verra Registry before 4 September 2023 may complete validation using the previous version until 31 December 2023.

VM0033 Methodology for Tidal Wetland and Seagrass Restoration, v2.1
Status: Active since 4 September 2023
Summary of Changes: Version 2.1 includes the following clarifications:
- Clarification that the latest version of the VCS AFOLU Non-Permanence Risk Tool (PDF) must be used to assess the risk of erosion and submergence of carbon stocks due to sea level rise.
- Correction that project area may change during the project crediting period to accommodate landward migration due to sea level rise.
