The proposed new tool provides procedures and requirements to estimate baseline, project, and leakage emissions from electricity consumption.
It is intended for use with VCS-approved methodologies and eligible projects where estimations of emissions from electricity use are required. The tool provides different options for proponents depending on the applicable electricity system and data availability.
Summary of Development
The proposed tool is being developed by Verra and is currently at “Step 6: Final Verra Review and Decision” of the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process, 4.3 (PDF). Verra hosted a public consultation from December 15, 2023, to January 29, 2024.
