Revision to AM0086, Large-Scale Methodology: Distribution of low greenhouse gas emitting water purification systems for safe drinking water

 
The proposed revisions to AM0086 (PDF) include updating parameters to reflect biomass as a baseline fuel and allowing emissions factors as default values suitable for biomass to align with the small-scale methodology AMS-III.AV, updating the default value for Specific Energy Consumption and revising the baseline definition. The proposed revision also includes water consumption from handwashing as an additional project activity.

The methodology idea note was rejected by Verra, as per Section 3.1.6(3) of the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process, 4.2 (PDF). The decision was based on the proposal’s low climate change mitigation potential compared to other proposals and technical complexities associated with crediting suppressed demand for large-scale projects.
