ACM0001 applies to project activities that capture and destroy landfill gas (LFG). Eligible uses of the captured LFG include any combination of the following:

  • Flaring;
  • Generating electricity;
  • Generating heat in a boiler, air heater or kiln or glass melting furnace; or
  • Supplying LFG to consumers through natural gas distribution networks, dedicated pipelines, or trucks.

The proposed revision expands the scope of the methodology to include additional LFG uses related to upgrading LFG to biomethane and CO2. Produced CO2 can be used as a feedstock for fertilizers, syngas, or animal feed. Produced biomethane can be used to replace natural gas, produce hydrogen, or produce graphene with carbon fixation.
