3. Energy demand
VM0008 v1.1 quantifies the GHG emission reductions by implementing energy efficiency measures that reduce the energy consumption of family buildings. Energy efficiency can be achieved by adding and/or improving insulation, sealing the building envelope, and replacing appliances and central heating/cooling components.
The proposed revision permits fuel switching and introduces heat pumps as an eligible, discrete appliance.
SUMMARY OF DEVELOPMENT
The methodology idea note was submitted by Climate Neutral Business Network (opens on external site) and RENU (opens on external site). It is currently at “Step 3: Draft Methodology Development” of the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process, 4.3 (PDF) and will follow the process for minor revisions [see Section 4.2 of the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process, 4.3 (PDF)].
