Stage

Under Development

The proposed methodology is a framework providing the overarching structure to be used together with modules for specific seaweed project activities. The first module outlines procedures to quantify net greenhouse emission removals from the creation of seaweed/kelp farms. Projects applying this module are expected to generate greenhouse gas removals by increasing carbon sequestration and storage in ocean sediment.

This structure enables the development of future project activity modules, including but not limited to, restoring and conserving native seaweed beds and offshore seaweed farming. The proposed methodology is globally applicable.
