Methodology for Recovery and Recycling of Materials from Solid Wastes

This proposed methodology is globally applicable and applies to project activities that recover and recycle materials (metals, minerals, and glass) from solid waste streams into intermediate or finished products. The recovered and recycled materials displace the production of virgin materials, thereby reducing energy consumption and GHG emissions associated with the production of virgin materials.

The concept note was rejected by Verra, as per Section 3.1.5(2) of the Methodology Development and Review Process, 4.2 (PDF). The concept note contained no technical inconsistencies or nonconformities with the VCS Program rules. Verra’s decision was based on the proposed methodology’s expected emission reductions compared to other higher-priority methodologies and initiatives already under development.
