Methodology Idea Note
The proposed methodology applies to project activities that displace emissions related to alumina production. Eligible project activities produce alumina from aluminum scraps to replace alumina produced from the traditional Bayer process, which is carbon-intensive. Alumina is commonly used to produce aluminum metal and in other industrial applications, such as an abrasive, refractory material, catalyst, and an ingredient in various glass formations.
SUMMARY OF DEVELOPMENT
The methodology idea note was submitted by GH Power (opens on external site) and is currently under review by Verra, as per Section 3.1.4 of the Methodology Development and Review Process, 4.2 (PDF).
