The proposed methodology applies to projects that reduce fugitive emissions in upstream oil and gas production by replacing pneumatic pumps powered by pressurized natural gas with electric pumps. The methodology is globally applicable.
SUMMARY OF DEVELOPMENT
- The methodology was originally proposed by Brightspot Climate and Trido Solutions LLC under an older version of the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process (MDRP) (PDF).
- On December 19, 2024, the development of this methodology was put on hold.
- In March 2026, Verra reassessed the priority of methodologies under development and decided to keep this proposal on hold.
- Verra will reassess whether to resume the development of this methodology in Q1 2027.
