Methodology for Determining GHG Emission Reductions Due to Pumped Hydro Storage Projects Connected to the Grid

The proposed methodology applies to project activities operating closed-loop pumped-storage hydroelectric projects, which are connected to the power grid to deliver renewable energy to consumers. GHG emissions reductions are achieved when excess and stored renewable energy generated by the project activity is delivered to consumers during periods of high GHG intensity instead of electricity generated from fossil fuels.

The methodology idea note was submitted by Greenko Energies Private Limited (GEPL) (external) and has been archived according to the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process. This development was archived due to overlap with existing initiatives (CN0157 and ACM0002) and lack of development progress.
