VCS seeks qualified experts to serve on a working group that will develop new tools for use in the integrated, jurisdiction-wide crediting of activities that Reduce Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation and enhance forest carbon stocks (REDD+).
The Working Group on Leakage and Permanence in Jurisdictional and Nested REDD+ will develop tools for addressing risks associated with non-permanence and leakage across jurisdictions.
VCS last month released for public comment draft Jurisdictional and Nested REDD+ (JNR) requirements. The requirements set out the first global framework for the accounting and crediting of REDD+ activities across multiple levels, recognizing emissions reductions from policies and programs as well as projects “nested” within states, provinces or nations.
The working group will build on the JNR draft requirements as well as recent efforts of the Advisory Committee on Jurisdictional and Nested REDD+.
Ideal working group candidates include project developers, policy makers, environmental NGOs and validation/verification bodies, among others. Applicants should anticipate a nine month commitment. The full scope of work is described in the Terms of Reference (ToR).
Interested individuals are asked to submit a CV and short outline of their credentials to firstname.lastname@example.org by 11 July 2012.
