The proposed methodology is for project activities that involve using low-carbon alternative fuels (such as hydrogen produced through water electrolysis, green ammonia, e-LNG, e-LPG, e-diesel, and e-methanol) in shipping, as drop-in fuels in dedicated ships. Eligible project activities include ships fuel-switching to alternative fuels and not for battery electric ships or ships using other types of fuels. The proposed methodology applies to all ship types and ships on territorial or high seas.

The proposed methodology was submitted by lino Kaiun Kaisha and is currently at “Step 4: Public Stakeholder Consultation” of the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process (PDF).
The proposed methodology is open for public consultation from November 18, 2024, to December 18, 2024.
Stakeholders are encouraged to submit feedback using Verra’s new digital public consultation platform. Comments may be submitted electronically via the online form by 11:59 pm Anywhere on Earth (UTC -12) on December 18, 2024.
