VM0023 Reduction of GHG Emissions in Propylene Oxide Production, v1.0
Propylene Oxide is used to produce commercial and industrial products including polyether polyols, propylene glycols and propylene glycol ethers. It is among the most diffused chemical intermediates worldwide and its production is on the rise. Industrial production of Propylene Oxide generally involves hydrochlorination or oxidation.
This methodology aims at supporting a new Propylene Oxide production process, known as Hydrogen Peroxide-based Propylene Oxide (HPPO) Technology, that reduces GHG emissions and waste generation from Propylene Oxide synthesis due to the use of less GHG-intensive reagents and reduced process energy requirements.
