Ciara McCarthy
Director, Natural Climate Solutions, VCS Program
As Director, Natural Climate Solutions for the VCS Program, Ciara leads a team of high-performing NCS experts. She is responsible for ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of project reviews and the overall integrity and quality of the VCS Program.
Ciara brings over 20 years of experience in global responsible forestry and sustainability certification to Verra. In her previous role, she worked as an International Program Manager for SCS Global Services, leading a global team of technical experts and auditors under the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) for forest management and chain of custody schemes. Additionally, Ciara held the technical responsibility for the technical oversight and greenhouse gas accounting within the sustainable biomass program.
Ciara holds Bachelor’s degrees in Forest Management and Agroforestry from the University of Wales and from Oregon State University. She divides her time between Cork, Ireland, and Sheffield in the United Kingdom.
