Validation & Verification

Assess a Methodology

Qualified validation/verification bodies (VVBs) perform rigorous assessments of methodology elements. To ensure the environmental integrity of any project that might use a methodology, Verra conducts and in-depth review, and an approved VVB assesses each proposed methodology to determine conformance with VCS Program requirements and sector-specific best practices. The contracted VVB must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Must be eligible for the sectoral scope(s) of the proposed methodology.
  • Must have completed a minimum of 10 relevant project validations or VCS Program methodology element assessments.
  • Must hire a VCS Program-approved methodology expert for assessments of methodologies that contain standardized methods or that are classified under the Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU) sector.
