The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, with its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), will require major investment to be achieved.
SD VISta helps to close this fiscal gap by driving finance, including from the private sector, toward high-performing projects that advance the SDGs.
The SD VISta program independently verifies the impacts of sustainable development projects, which is increasingly demanded by donors and investors.
Over time, SD VISta is expected to encourage investment into all kinds of social and environmental projects – beyond just carbon – as corporates look to invest in more types of projects with impacts across the full range of the SDGs.
It will typically take a year, from planning to registration, to certify your project under the SD VISta program. Please note, final timelines can vary.
Yes, SD VISta can be used alongside the Verified Carbon Standard, Climate Community and Biodiversity Standards, and the Plastic Waste Reduction Program.
SD VISta assets are units representing sustainable development benefits. These assets can be sold or retired and claimed.
To generate SD VISta assets, projects must be certified using an approved SD VISta asset methodology to quantify the specific social or environmental benefits that they want to issue as assets.
If no applicable SD VISta asset methodology exists, project developers can develop a new methodology through the SD VISta methodology development process.
SD VISta asset methodologies set out the parameters and procedures for quantifying specific sustainable development benefits, which can be issued as SD VISta assets. They include guidance for project developers to determine project boundaries, set baseline scenarios, and measure, monitor, and report benefits.
Project developers can choose to develop their own SD VISta asset methodology through the SD VISta methodology development process.
