The methodology facilitates the quantification of the net greenhouse gas benefits of forest management activities including pre-commercial thinning and early fertilization which achieve carbon benefits in combination with increased tree growth. The methodology is applicable to boreal forests with certifications for sustainable management practices (eg, FSC and PEFC certification) and quantifies emission reductions through carbon stock changes estimated using modeling. This methodology also uses an activity methodology for the demonstration of additionality for projects based in Sweden.
