This proposed update to VMD0054, v1.0 was originally under the scope of the Verra development M0273. M0273 included a revision to VM0047, v1.0 which has now been published. The scope of both M0318 and M0273 addresses the following:
- updated references and numbering,
- clarification of applicability to enhanced carbon stocks activities in existing forests,
- clarification of the census-based method, and the specific use of physical marker (GPS point) and,
- clarification on how to account for clearing of degraded ecosystem for site preparation.
Summary of Development
Verra is leading the development of this minor revision. The proposed revision to VMD0054 is at “Step 6: Final Verra Review” of the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process, v4.4 (PDF). Verra hosted a public consultation from May 23, 2024, to June 24, 2024.
On May 14, 2025 Verra published VM0047, v1.1, a C&C for VM0047 v1.0, and transferred the scope of the VMD0054, v1.0 revision from ID# M0273 to ID# M0318.
