Revision to ACM0002: Grid-connected electricity generation from renewable sources

ACM0002: Grid-connected electricity generation from renewable sources applies to project activities that displace electricity with lower GHG intensive alternatives. The proposed revision to ACM0002 includes the following updates:

1. Introduction of a list of eligible countries for project implementation for various renewable energy technologies (specifically solar photovoltaic, geothermal, and onshore and offshore wind) that replaces Table 1 of the VCS Standard (PDF). This change would broaden the geographical applicability of this methodology (to hitherto underserved regions) and promotes the installation of renewable energy technologies in regions where it is crucially needed, thereby catalyzing the clean energy transition.
2. Replacement of key CDM tools (TOOL01, TOOL02, TOOL05, and TOOL07) with their new VCS counterparts (VT0008, VT0009, VT0010 and VT0011, respectively). Once this revision is published, project proponents must use it in conjunction with the latest version of ACM0002 as it is still applicable in its majority (apart from the revisions).
