SUMMARY:Overview of Verra's Durability Pilot
DESCRIPTION:During this webinar\, Verra will provide an overview of the durability pilot initiative\, including participation requirements and the participation process itself. \nThe three-year durability pilot was launched along with the release of VCS Version 5 to explore alternative approaches to managing non-permanence risk. Under this pilot\, projects may use either insurance or a fund-based approach instead of the pooled buffer account. \nIn this session\, we will also hear perspectives from CarbonPool and Kita\, two insurance companies developing products in the space. Additionally\, attendees will hear from Kita on their feasibility study\, co-led with the American Forest Foundation\, exploring permanence funds as alternative approaches to managing non-permanence risk. \nThis webinar is intended for project proponents\, market participants\, and other stakeholders interested in learning more about the durability pilot and how it may apply to projects. \nView presentation slides (PDF).

SUMMARY:Overview of VMD0054 Estimating Leakage from the Displacement of Agricultural Activities
DESCRIPTION:Verra will provide an overview of VMD0054 Estimating Leakage from the Displacement of Agricultural Activities\, v1.1. VMD0054 provides a standardized approach for estimating leakage\, which occurs in the form of greenhouse gas emissions outside of a project boundary when project activities displace agricultural or fuelwood production. Version 1.1 constitutes a minor revision to version 1.0 of the module\, and the webinar will focus on highlighting the changes between the two versions.

SUMMARY:Yale Forest Forum "Assessing Permanence Risk: Developing Maps and Tools"
DESCRIPTION:Verra staff speaking: Liz Guinessey\, Manager\, Food and Blue Carbon Innovation. \nClimate change is driving increasing risks of disturbances to forest carbon in many regions of the world. Successful nature-based climate solutions in forests require durability and robust\, evidence-based mechanisms like buffer pools\, which are urgently needed. Anderegg will present a suite of his recent research that aims to address this need in U.S. and global forests. \n

SUMMARY:Overview of New Digital Soil Mapping Tool (VT0014) in the VCS Program
DESCRIPTION:On Thursday\, October 16\, at 11:00 am ET\, Verra and Perennial (external) will be hosting a webinar to provide an overview of the new digital soil mapping (DSM) tool in the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Program. \nThe tool\, VT0014 Estimating Organic Carbon Stocks Using Digital Soil Mapping\, v1.0\, was released in August and facilitates the robust and verifiable quantification of greenhouse gas emission reductions and carbon dioxide removals in agricultural land management (ALM) carbon projects. It is based on up-to-date science and novel technologies\, such as remote sensing\, and enables ALM projects to generate high-integrity carbon credits cost-effectively and at scale. \nThe tool is currently approved for use under VM0042 Methodology for Improved Agricultural Land Management and VM0032 Methodology for the Adoption of Sustainable Grasslands through Adjustment of Fire and Grazing.
