Verra standards and logos are the exclusive property of Verra, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization incorporated in the United States.

Verra currently licenses its logos listed below to authorized users.

Verra Logo

The Verra logo represents the organization as a whole. The standards and programs Verra develops and manages are globally applicable and widely trusted by a broad range of stakeholders. Verra is committed to providing innovative solutions to environmental and social problems that work for people and the planet.

Verified Carbon Standard logo

The Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) logo signifies the quality assurance that goes into each VCS carbon project and credit. The VCS Program is the world’s leading greenhouse gas crediting program. This logo is used to refer to projects and credits certified to the Verified Carbon Standard. Read more about the VCS Program.

Climate, Community and Biodiversity Standards

The Climate, Community, & Biodiversity Standards (CCB) logo represents the credibility of a project’s combined climate, community, and biodiversity benefits. This logo may be used to refer to projects certified under the CCB standard. Read more about the CCB Standard.

Sustainable Development Verified Impact Standard

The Sustainable Development Verified Impact Standard (SD VISta) signifies a project’s impact in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Read more about SD VISta.

Plastic Waste Reduction Standard

The Plastic Waste Reduction Standard logo indicates the accounting and crediting of plastic collection and recycling activities. Read more about the Plastic Waste Reduction Program.

Jurisdictional and Nested REDD+

The VCS Jurisdictional and Nested REDD+ (JNR) logo represents the comprehensive carbon accounting and crediting framework designed to aid governments in the development of REDD+ programs, and nest REDD+ and subnational jurisdictions under such programs. Read more about JNR.

All parties using a Verra logo are required to enter a legally binding Trademark Licensing Agreement.

Verra’s trademark licensing process has been designed to ensure that only authorized users can acquire license. Authorized users are defined as entities holding an approved Registry account. Other users may be granted license on a case-by-case basis.

Verra retains the right to grant, modify, or revoke any trademark licensing agreements.

Parties wishing to use Verra’s logos must submit the following to logo@verra.org:

  1. A completed trademark use application (PDF)
  2. Proposed use(s) of the logo(s) such as screenshots of the website or photos of a brochure

Upon submission, the Verra legal team will review the provided documents and reach out with any concerns or clarifications. If approved, Verra will prepare a trademark-use license agreement including terms and conditions for the use of logo(s), pre-approved use(s) of the logo(s), and the Verra Brand Guidelines (PDF) attached as annexes.

Misuse of a logo can be harmful to the organization, as well as damaging to the reputation of the standards and programs Verra manages. For the credibility of the organization, it is important for Verra’s logo to appear only in authorized content.

Reference to Verra and its programs without license is protected by trademark law under certain circumstances. These protections also apply when a registered mark is used without a logo. Generally, anyone can refer to a brand by its trademark if they use the mark in an informational, comparative, or descriptive sense. For example, a journalist publishing an informational piece on plastic credits might reference Verra or the Verra Plastic Waste Reduction Program without needing a trademark license.

Applicants

This section serves to address several questions we often receive from logo applicants.

Verra currently offers license of logos across all Verra programs as well as the organization as whole.

Program-specific logos should be used in accordance with the credit type or label. For example, an entity selling VCS credits should show the VCS logo.

The Verra logo can only be used in reference to the organization as a whole.

As an independent standard-setting organization, it is important that Verra appear separate from all projects and entities. Verra requests all use-cases such as this add language to make it clear Verra is a ‘Certifier’. Please reach out to logo@verra.org with any questions.

Authorized Users

This section serves to help authorized users answer questions about logo usage and licensing.

Under Section 2.2 of the Trademark License, authorized users may apply the logo to materially similar uses. For example, including the VCS logo in a yearly report does not require additional applications to be resubmitted each year.

For different use cases, authorized users are requested to submit additional proposed use(s) to be approved and filed with the trademark license.
